Program Outline

The goal of this program is to train suitable people to detect problems and intervene appropriately with a range of clients having difficulties adapting or fitting-in socially. Special care counselling technicians or community and social service workers help people to solve their personal and social problems. This is accomplished in multidisciplinary teams in close collaboration with various other participants such as teachers, learning specialists, psychologists, directors of educational institutions and occupational therapists.
Another important aspect of the profession is collaborating with parents, families and family caregivers of people with difficulties.

This program is ideal for those who enjoy people and are good at listening. If you are looking for an everchanging work environment and appreciate human contact and professional relationships with people, then this program could help you to have a good influence on others. It requires openness, empathy and a penchant for teamwork.

LaSalle College provides Special Care Counselling Techniques students with hands-on experience in the workplace through practical workshops, professional internships and pre-graduation programs approved by former students.
