Cost of Housing in Montréal (in Canadian dollars)
The monthly cost for rent varies from one area to another depending on the community, the age of the building and lease conditions (furnished or not, heat included, etc.).
In general, apartments do not come furnished but most are equipped with a refrigerator and stove. If electricity and heating costs are not included in the rental amount, you are responsible for the monthly payment of these services.
Typical Rent Amounts (in $ CDN per month):
| Single room (kitchen and/or bathroom facilities are shared with other tenants) |
| Single room |
400 $ to 550 $ |
| Individual apartments (with private kitchen and bathroom) |
| Single or two room |
400 $ to 500 $ |
| Three rooms |
400 $ to 500 $ |
| Four rooms |
600 $ to700 $ |
| Five rooms and more |
700 $ and up |
These rental amounts are for apartments located outside the downtown area. For downtown locations, including the area surrounding LaSalle College, rents are at least $50 more per month than the prices listed above.
Before renting an apartment, we strongly suggest that you read the LaSalle College rental guide.
